This tutorial assumes you have already created your new email account in your web hosting account…typically through your hosting control panel.

Start by clicking the TOOLS LINK. Then click ACCOUNTS.

The INTERNET ACCOUNT WINDOW will appear.

Click the ADD button, then click MAIL.

Enter the NAME as you would like it to appear in the from field of outgoing emails, then click NEXT.

Enter the NEW EMAIL ADDRESS in the next box, then click NEXT.

Now you have to enter your INCOMING POP3 AND OUTGOING SMTP MAIL SERVER NAMES.

These server names will have been provided to you in your welcome email and oftentimes are simply mail.yourdomain.com.

Choose POP3 for the incoming mail server setting. Now enter your Incoming and Outgoing server settings in the boxes provided.

Click NEXT.

Now enter the EMAIL USER NAME as provided to you by your hosting provider. This may be the entire email address or just the user name prefix.

Next enter your EMAIL PASSWORD and click NEXT.

Choose your INTERNET CONNECTION METHOD and then click NEXT.

Click FINISH to complete the wizard.

The email account has been setup, but we still need to configure our email properties.

Select the email account you just created.

Click the PROPERTIES button.

Change name of the email account to something more recognizable.

Enter an ORGANIZATION NAME if applicable.

Enter a REPLY TO address in the box provided.

Next, click the SERVERS tab.

Click the box for SMTP AUTHENTICATION.

SMTP AUTHENTICATION means that Outlook will login to your mail server even when sending emails (not just receiving) ensuring that you are the ONLY one that can send emails from your account.

CLICK THE SETTINGS BUTTON.

Most SMTP servers use the SAME USERNAME AND PASSWORD as the POP3 servers.  So just leave the first item selected. Click OK.

Click APPLY so the changes take effect.

Click OK.

That’s it! You’ve successfully setup an email account and can now start sending and receiving emails from that account from Outlook.
