Hotlink protection disables people from directly linking to images on your website.

Click on the Hotlink Protection icon.

Hotlink protection prevents other websites from directly linking to certain files (typically images) on you website.

You’ll want to prevent Hotlinking if you have COPYRIGHTED IMAGES or to simply save on BANDWIDTH usage.

From the Hotlink Protection screen, first make sure your own sites are listed in the access box; this way you can hotlink your images.

In the box provided, enter all the FILE TYPES you would like to protect.

Next, enter a URL you want to REDIRECT to, for anyone who tries to hotlink to your files and/or images.

If you want someone to be able to manually enter the URL of a protected file, click the ALLOW DIRECT REQUESTS box.

Click the SUBMIT button.

You have successfully enabled HOTLINK PROTECTION. From this point forward, only the websites listed in the ALLOWED REFERERS box will be able to hotlink to the file types you specified as PROTECTED EXTENSIONS.

Now click the GO BACK link.

To DISABLE Hotlink Protection, simply click the DISABLE button.

You now know how to enable and disable Hotlink Protection, as well as how to customize protected file types.
