IMG_1854 (Mobile)If you are purchasing web hosting and want to host your own email addresses, you should make sure that the web host you decide to go with offers email as part of the package. For instance, some hosts like GoDaddy want you to pay extra to set-up email accounts with a domain. Other hosts include email with their web hosting costs. Also, you may be big enough that you want to purchase web hosting to run a dedicated email server. If this is the case, you definitely want to make sure that the web hosting you buy will be able to handle the load.

Even if your web hosting package has the storage space and enough RAM to run email, your web host may only let you set-up a certain number of email accounts. If you need more than a handful, this is going to be something you want to look into more.

If you’re getting VPS or dedicated web server hosting, you should be able to set-up as many email accounts as you want. Or, at least enough that you have the storage space to hold. Many web hosts will even point you toward easy to use software for web-based mail retrieval if you want. Be warned that if you’re used to Yahoo or Google mail, you may be unimpressed by many of the free web-based email programs available.

There are other things you should think about if you’re getting web hosting just for email or even if you just want to make sure email is included in your web hosting package. Email accounts may be the last thing you think about when you think about web hosting, but it should be on your radar.  If you have any fresh tips for web hosting email, leave a comment below and let us know.
